You don't need anything but your hands for the installation. You'll find the filter and necessary gaskets in the package. First, check that the gaskets are in place.

Step 1: Disconnect the shower hose from the faucet
First, unscrew the shower hose from the faucet. The connector usually opens easily by hand. If it has become stuck over the years, you can get a better grip with a towel.
Step 2: Screw the shower filter onto the faucet
Make sure there is a black rubber gasket at the top end of the filter. Screw the filter onto the faucet threads by hand. Remember: do not use tools, hand-tightening is sufficient.
Step 3: Attach the shower hose to the filter
Also check the gasket on the shower hose connector. Screw the hose onto the bottom end of the filter. Again, no tools are needed, a firm hand-tightening is enough.
Step 4: Check connections and enjoy!
Turn on the water from the faucet and check that no water is dripping from the connections. If a connection leaks slightly, tighten it a tiny bit. Continuous leakage is almost always due to a misplaced gasket, so check its position. Done!
